Music Packaging Design – Will Page

Will Page, well known as the fiddle-playing frontman of Americana band Noble Jacks, is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Sussex. His influences include The Waterboys, Levellers, Fairport Convention, and Seth Lakeman. Will has toured extensively, performing at major festivals such as Glastonbury, Isle of Wight, and AmericanaFest Nashville. He has earned a reputation for his energetic performances and musical versatility.

Page released his debut solo album, “Still Standing” in March 2024. The album features a collaboration with Steve Knightley (Show Of Hands). It builds on his successful single “Strength To Carry On,” praised by BBC Radio Ulster, Wales, and Scotland. The album embodies resilience and hope.

The Design Brief

Page commissioned Toop Studio to design the packaging for his debut solo album “Still Standing”, and in addition, the covers for Page’s next two singles, “The Rise” and “Find Your Light”.

The Designs

Shadric Toop’s comments on his music packaging designs for Will:

Will was a fantastic collaborator on this project. He provided a great set of portrait images from a previous outdoor photoshoot to use as the basis for the album cover. We discussed the album’s themes of resilience and hope against the odds and agreed on the best photo for the cover—Will standing resolutely against a brick wall. The original photo had garages in the background, but I felt we needed something more dramatic to symbolise the challenges overcome. A large fire seemed like the perfect symbolism. After some careful Photoshopping, I made this a reality.

For the two singles, I sourced additional images to extend the visual story of the fire and applied colours and cropping to emphasise each title. Finally, we took some time to choose the right typeface for the entire set.
