Toop Studio was founded in 2000 by Brighton graphic designer Shadric Toop. Shadric trades as an independent senior designer, illustrator, art director and video director. He takes on commissions via his company Toop Studio Ltd. The Studio specialises in branding, graphic design, illustration, packaging design, wall art and video production. Our clients are in a variety of sectors including the arts, education, the media, publishing, business and retail. Our client-based has grown over the last two decades to include local and national companies, alongside schools and colleges around the UK. In addition, the studio has worked with larger agencies, taking on some of their branding and design projects for global brands. We have strong links with the education sector, having worked with schools and colleges across the UK. We have undertaken several school rebrands (for example Varndean School and Springfield School). Shadric Toop was born in Brighton, UK. He studied architecture at Heriot-Watt, Edinburgh and Kingston University. Subsequently, he had a spell in the music business, then moved into graphic design and illustration via jobs in the London publishing industry. In 1999, Shadric set up a stationery design & manufacturing company with a friend from college. In their first year, they designed and supplied stationery products to The Conran Shop, The Design Museum (London), Paperchase, and Selfridges (London). Having found his creative niche, he moved back to his hometown to set up his own design and illustration studio in the year 2000. Alongside his design practice, Shadric has exhibited as an artist and worked as a visiting Foundation design lecturer. ‘I believe that more interesting results come from crossing the boundaries between disciplines. Underpinning every project I undertake is a pragmatic approach to the goals of a brief. My approach is to work with my partners and clients to get under the skin of a brand or message. I treat each project as an opportunity to create something of lasting meaning, function, beauty and value.
